Sheznie Merican is the CMO of Positano Risto, the top rated Italian Halal Restaurant in Malaysia & Singapore by Tripadvisor and the recipient of the Women’s Icons 2019 and Celebrating Inspirational Women 2019 Award. She was recently featured in an article on Motherhood.com, 6 Influential Malaysian Moms Shares Inspiring Tips, for International Women’s Day 2022. She was also selected to be part of the Google Rare Leadership Cohort in 2021. She is also the Founder & CEO of a tech startup, Check It Out Worldwide, a company dedicated to building smarter home products and services for future lifestyles.
She has over 20 years of experience in Technology Development, Retail Management, Branding Strategy, Strategic Communications, Marketing & Advertising and has headed brand & marketing departments in Fortune 500 companies such as PETRONAS, YTL and Habib Jewels. She has also worked for Wal-Mart, Citibank & Academy of Art, San Francisco. She is part of the DWEN (Dell Women Entrepreneurship Network) Malaysia Chapter. She has been featured in Inspiring Women Her World-Max Factor Interview with Lisa Surihani, The Star Newspaper, News Straits Times.
She also trains business professionals through the Backed4Life programme at BAC, taught 2 cohorts of the Starting Up a StartUp course at IACT College and was a panel speaker at the Women In Leadership Summit 2018 & Women Empowerment in Industry 4.0 Talk . She was featured in the Late Nite Show with W&L talking about ‘How to market Your Brand’ .
