This category recognises agencies that have not only achieved remarkable growth and milestones within the past year, but have also showcased breakthrough elements in their strategies. Judges will look for standout achievements, creative thinking, and measurable success that demonstrates how the agency have driven substantial impact. Entries should not only highlight the agency’s achievements, but also emphasise the breakthrough elements that have set them apart and defined their path of growth and success.
4. Best Client Acquisition Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have excelled in developing effective client acquisition strategies. Judges will look at how well the agencies attracted new customers and drove growth through innovative tactics. Entries should demonstrate measurable outcomes and creative solutions that enhanced the client acquisition process, and the customer database.
5. Best Client Retention Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have excelled in developing effective client retention strategies. Judges will look at how well the agencies retained a long-term relationship with existing clients. Entries should demonstrate measurable outcomes and a great number of returning clients.
6. Boutique Agency of the Year
This category honours outstanding small-scale agencies with no more than 20 staff within the whole company/group. Judges will look at the unique strengths and innovative approaches that made a significant impact within their niche markets. Entries should demonstrate their ability to deliver exemplary value and quantifiable results comparable to those of sizeable agencies.
7. Brand & Design Consultancy of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have delivered holistic brand and design expertise – from strategic insights and creative ideas to fully fledged brand development and marketing executions. Judges will look for innovative thinking, strong creative solutions, and measurable impact in shaping distinctive brand identities and enhancing brand image and recognition across all touchpoints. Entries should highlight how the agency’s designs and strategies transformed client brands and drove meaningful business growth.
8. Consultancy of the Year (NEW)
This award celebrates the consultancy or agency that provided consulting services which demonstrated exceptional strategic impact, drove measurable business transformation, and outstanding results for clients. Judges will evaluate the entries based on the consultancy’s ability to solve complex challenges, deliver tangible client success, showcase innovative thinking, and elevate industry standards through thought leadership and best practices.
9. Content Marketing Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have excelled in creating engaging content marketing strategies across all platforms – from online to offline, including websites, social media, e-newsletters, white papers, and more. Judges will look at how effectively agencies produced high-quality content that drove brand awareness and customer engagement. Entries should demonstrate innovative content initiatives that resonated with target audiences.
10. Creative Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have provided the most creative and innovative ideas for advertising work across all media platforms from online to offline. Judges will look at the originality and effectiveness of the agency’s concepts and executions. Entries should showcase state-of-the-art ideas that connected with audiences and drove impactful results.
11. CRM & Loyalty Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have demonstrated exceptional expertise in customer relationship management (CRM) and loyalty marketing. Judges will evaluate the agency’s overall excellence, including strategic thinking, innovation, client success stories, and measurable results in driving customer retention, engagement, and brand loyalty.
12. CRO Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have excelled in conversion rate optimisation for businesses in improving their website/e-business traffic. Judges will look at how the effective strategies improved the user experience and drove higher conversion rates and revenue growth. Entries should showcase a true understanding of user behaviour, market trends, and industry best practices.
13. Data Analytics Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have shown exceptional skills in marketing analytics and data insights. It celebrates those that have helped clients turn data into actionable intelligence, enabling smarter decisions, stronger strategies, and improved marketing performances. Judges will look for evidence of innovative data management, analytical excellence, and measurable business impact through the effective use of data-driven insights.
14. Digital Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have delivered market-leading digital solutions to help brands thrive in the fast-changing digital age. Judges will look at innovation and excellence across areas such as branding, online advertising, social media and mobile marketing, mobile app development, UI/UX design, SEO/SEM, and the use of AI and automation. Entries should highlight how the agency’s digital strategies created meaningful impact and shaped the digital landscape.
15. eCommerce Marketing Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have provided exceptional eCommerce marketing solutions to drive a client’s business performance. Judges will look at their effectiveness and performance on various platforms, apps and/or social media channels. Entries should showcase the innovative approaches that increased online sales, enhanced the customer shopping experience, and drove eCommerce success.
16. Event Marketing Agency of the Year
This category honours agencies that have excelled in planning and executing impactful events – from small to large, in-person to virtual, and B2B events to customer events. Judges will look at the effectiveness of the event marketing solutions provided to the clients in engaging the target audience and delivering the brand message in a dynamic manner. Entries should demonstrate the memorable experiences that drove client objectives.
17. Full-Service Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have provided a comprehensive range of marketing solutions which drove a client’s business performance – from the creative concept to the implementation to the tracking of the results. Judges will look at how effectively they integrated various marketing disciplines to deliver cohesive and effective campaigns. Entries should highlight the agency’s ability to meet diverse client needs successfully. The full-service agency should be able to offer a minimum of three marketing solutions in-house.
18. Independent Agency of the Year
This category is open to any independent agency with any specialism. An agency can be deemed independent when it is not part of an agency network and is not owned by an agency holding company, a conglomerate or any other big agency or parent company. Judges will look at the unique strengths and innovative approaches that showcased their success. Entries should demonstrate successful client partnerships and significant achievements. *There is no Local Hero award for this category.
19. Industry Specialist Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that specialise in specific business verticals or particular industries, including healthcare, sports, talent management, finance, lifestyle/entertainment, tourism, and more. Judges will look at how well the agencies understood their sector and how their tailored strategies drove success for their clients. Entries should reflect the agency’s expertise and market insights, highlighting their impact within their niche.
20. Influencer Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have excelled in developing and executing influencer marketing campaigns using local influencers, KOLs or KOCs. It will recognise agencies that have effectively used influencer partnerships to amplify brand messages, increase awareness, and build authentic connections with target audiences.
Judges will look for the creativity, strategies, and measurable impact in how the influencer collaborations drove engagement and strengthened brand relevance.
21. Innovative Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have demonstrated an innovative approach to client needs, for example, the use of new technology, media, marketing, creative, social, communities, and consumer intelligence. Judges will look at the groundbreaking ideas that have set new standards in the industry. Entries should highlight the agency’s ability to think outside the box and drive impactful results.
22. Integrated Marketing Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies which have successfully used integrated marketing solutions on three or more marketing channels for their clients. Judges will look at how effectively they combined multiple channels and tactics to deliver cohesive solutions. Entries should show the conceptualisation and management of an integrated campaign across a range of verticals.
23. MarTech Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have delivered outstanding marketing technology strategies which leveraged tools, platforms, and AI-driven solutions to develop, deploy, and refine integrated MarTech stacks for their clients. It will also recognise agencies that used technology to transform a marketing performance and created smarter, data-driven outcomes.
Judges will look for how effectively the agency applied technology and AI to enhance marketing effectiveness, optimise processes, and deliver measurable results.
24. Media Agency of the Year
This category recognises outstanding agencies in the areas of media planning, buying, and strategy. It recognises teams that have optimised media investments to achieve maximum reach, impact, and engagement across both traditional and digital channels, including emerging areas such as programmatic and real-time bidding.
Judges will look for innovative, data-driven approaches that delivered measurable results and tangible business outcomes.
25. Performance Marketing Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have excelled in performance-driven marketing, delivering measurable and results-oriented campaigns. It will recognise agencies that have optimised strategy, data, and creativity to achieve their clients’ business objectives effectively. Judges will look for evidence of strong results, innovation, and continuous optimisation that led to improved performance outcomes.
26. Production Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have provided excellent pre or post-production work for marketing campaigns which includes event, audio, video productions, and more. Judges will look at the effectiveness of their visual and audio content in communicating brand messages. Entries should showcase the agency’s production expertise and creativity.
27. Programmatic Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have demonstrated excellence in leveraging programmatic technology to deliver smarter, data-driven advertising campaigns. It celebrates agencies that have made the most effective use of omni-channel buying capabilities from display and video to mobile and connected TV to reach audiences with precision and efficiency. Judges will look for how effectively data, automation, and technology were used to optimise performance and deliver measurable results.
28. Public Relations Agency of the Year
This category recognises agencies that have provided strategy and execution for clients in the areas of corporate communications, public affairs, B2B, investor relations or crisis management. Judges will look at how effectively they managed brand reputation and drove positive media coverage. Entries should illustrate the successful PR campaigns that enhanced client visibility and their impact on brand perception.
29. Social Media Agency of the Year
This category celebrates agencies that have excelled in delivering outstanding social media strategies and campaigns as a core part of their offering. It recognises agencies that have creatively used social platforms to build brand communities, spark conversations, and drive meaningful engagement. Judges will look for how effectively the agency planned and executed social content, storytelling, and activations across multiple platforms.
30. Search Agency of the Year (NEW)
This category recognises agencies that have demonstrated excellence in search marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, and emerging search technologies. Judges will look for agencies that delivered measurable business impact through innovative keyword strategies, AI-powered optimisation, and cross-border search campaigns. Entries should showcase creativity, technical expertise, and proven results in driving visibility, traffic, and conversions across Hong Kong and regional markets.

31. Best Agency Culture
This category celebrates agencies that have built a positive, inclusive, and people-first workplace culture. It recognises those that truly care for their teams by creating an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to do their best work.
Judges will look for how the agency’s culture encourages collaboration, wellbeing, growth, and belonging. Entries should highlight initiatives or practices that strengthened team spirit, supported personal and professional development, and made the agency a great place to work.
32. Best Client-Agency Partnership
This category celebrates the exceptional collaboration between an agency and its client that delivered outstanding results. It recognises partnerships built on mutual trust, open communication, and a shared commitment to success.
Entries should focus on one client relationship and show how the teamwork, goal alignment, and creative problem-solving led to measurable achievements and meaningful long-term impact.
33. Agency Leader of the Year
This category honours an exceptional agency leader who has demonstrated vision, integrity, and transformative leadership. It recognises individuals who have not only guided their teams to success, but have also made a lasting impact on their agency’s growth and the wider industry.
Judges will look for clear evidence of business impact, including achievements in commercial performance, strategic direction, team development, and operational excellence within the eligibility period.
Open to CEO or MD-level leaders, this category accepts both self-nominations and peer nominations. Entries are encouraged to include testimonials that reflect the nominee’s leadership style, influence, and contributions to their agency’s success. Testimonials for this category are encouraged.
34. Agency Team of the Year
This category recognises outstanding work from an agency team which made a significant impact on their clients’ overall marketing campaigns, executions, and results. Entrants can use one particular campaign as a case study of evidence to form their entry or can use aspects from various projects, but all work must have taken place within the eligibility period.
Judges will look for clear evidence of the team’s scope of work, innovation, problem-solving, and results achieved against objectives or KPIs. Testimonials that reflect teamwork, client satisfaction, and exceptional outcomes are encouraged.
35. Rising Star
This category recognises an outstanding performance from an agency talent under the age of 30, who has demonstrated their ability in generating a significant impact to their clients’ overall marketing campaigns, executions, and results. To qualify, the entrant must have been 29 at any point during the eligibility period.
Entrants can use one particular campaign as a case study of evidence to form their entry or can use aspects from various projects, but all work must have taken place within the eligibility period.
They must show evidence of their outstanding achievements in the campaign/s, their creativity, their out-of-the box thinking, excellent executions, successful results against objectives, and any other exceptional achievements or works, etc. Testimonials for this category are encouraged.
Overall Categories (Not for Entry)
36. Overall Agency of the Year
This category will recognise the most successful performing agencies across all categories. The top five performing agencies will be shortlisted, and the winner will be revealed in the big finale at the AOTY gala dinner celebration.
The winner is decided based on the following weightage. The entrant who scores the highest points will be crowned the overall winner:
Points system:
- Gold: 4 points
- Silver: 2 points
- Bronze: 1 point
Tie-breakers:
- Most gold: If total points are tied, the agency with the highest number of gold awards wins.
- Most silver: If the gold awards are also tied, the agency with the highest number of silver awards wins.
- Highest average score: If a tie still persists, the agency with the highest average score percentage (as assigned by the judges across all their winning entries) will win.
37. Overall Local Hero of the Year
This category will recognise the most successful performing Local Hero agency across all categories. Only independent agencies that were founded in Hong Kong are eligible for consideration. Multiple offices in other countries are permitted as long as the agency was founded in Hong Kong, with no ownership by parent agencies or holding companies.
The winner is decided based on the following weightage. The entrant who scores the highest points will be crowned the overall winner:
