This category recognises agencies that specialise in creating impactful business-to-consumer marketing solutions. Judges will be looking at the effectiveness of their strategic insights in driving business growth and fostering strong client relationships. Entries should showcase innovative approaches that successfully engaged B2C audiences.

3. Best Breakthrough Agency of the Year (NEW)

This category recognises agencies that have not only achieved remarkable growth and milestones within the past year, but have also showcased breakthrough elements in their strategies. Judges will evaluate the innovative approaches that have driven substantial impact. Entries should not only highlight the agency’s achievements, but also emphasise the breakthrough elements that have set them apart and defined their path of growth and success. 

4. Best Client Acquisition Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that excel in developing effective client acquisition strategies. Judges will be looking at how well the agencies attracted new customers and drove growth through innovative tactics. Entries should demonstrate measurable outcomes and creative solutions that enhanced the client acquisition process, and the customer database.

5. Best Client Retention Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that excel in developing effective client retention strategies. Judges will be looking at how well the agencies retained a long-term relationship with existing clients. Entries should demonstrate measurable outcomes and a great number of returning clients.

6. Boutique Agency of the Year

This category honours outstanding small-scale agencies with no more than 20 staff within the whole company/group. Judges will be looking at the unique strengths and innovative approaches that have made a significant impact within their niche markets. Entries should demonstrate their ability to deliver exemplary value and quantifiable results comparable to those of sizeable agencies. 

7. Brand & Design Consultancy of the Year

This category recognises agencies that are able to provide 360-degree insights from ideas, and brand designs to marketing strategies. Judges will be looking at the effectiveness of the agency’s creative solutions in shaping brand identities and boosting the brand’s image and recognition. Entries should showcase the innovative designs and strategies that have transformed client brands.

8. Content Marketing Agency of the Year

This category celebrates agencies that excel in creating engaging content marketing strategies across all platforms from online to offline, including websites, social media, e-newsletters, white papers, and more. Judges will be looking at how effectively agencies produced high-quality content that drove brand awareness and customer engagement. Entries should demonstrate innovative content initiatives that resonated with target audiences.

9. Creative Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that provide the most creative and innovative ideas for advertising work across all media platforms from online to offline. Judges will be looking at the originality and effectiveness of the agency’s concepts and executions. Entries should showcase state-of-the-art ideas that connected with audiences and drove impactful results.

10. CRM & Loyalty Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that provided the best ideas and expert insights into customer relationship management and loyalty that helped marketers to strengthen the relationship between brand and customer. Judges will consider both quantitative and qualitative results.

11. CRO Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that excel in conversion rate optimisation for businesses in improving their website/e-business traffic. Judges will be looking at the effective strategies that improved the user experience and drove higher conversion rates and revenue growth. Entries should showcase a true understanding of user behaviour, market trends, and industry best practices.

12. Data Analytics Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that have shown exceptional skills in marketing analytics and data insights. Awards will go to those who successfully helped clients manage and leverage data, and transformed it into real-time information for better decision making.

13. Digital Agency of the Year

This category celebrates agencies that provided the best market-leading digital solutions to address disruptions in the digital age. Judges will be looking at branding, online advertising, social media and mobile marketing, mobile app development, UI/UX design, SEO/SEM solutions, and more. Entries should highlight the innovative digital campaigns that achieved significant results and impacted the digital landscape.

14. eCommerce Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that provided exceptional eCommerce marketing solutions to drive a client’s business performance. Judges will be looking at their effectiveness and performance on various platforms, apps and/or social media channels experience. Entries should showcase the innovative approaches that increased online sales, enhanced the customer shopping experience and drove eCommerce success.

15. Event Marketing Agency of the Year

This category honours agencies that excel in planning and executing impactful events, from small to large, in-person to virtual, and from B2B events to customer events. Judges will be looking at the effectiveness of the event marketing solutions provided to the clients in engaging the target audience and delivering the brand message in a dynamic manner. Entries should demonstrate the memorable experiences that drove client objectives.

16. Experiential Marketing Agency of the Year (NEW)

This category recognises agencies that specialise in crafting experiential marketing solutions such as brand activations, sensory interactions, immersive experiences, audience participation events, etc, for their clients. Judges will be looking at how well the agencies engaged consumers and fostered lasting connections with brands. Entries should illustrate innovative experiential marketing strategies that drove engagement.

17. Full-Service Agency of the Year

This category celebrates agencies that provided a comprehensive range of marketing solutions that drove a client’s business performance, from creative concept to implementation, to the tracking of results. Judges will be looking at how effectively they integrated various marketing disciplines to deliver cohesive and effective campaigns. Entries should highlight the agency’s ability to meet diverse client needs successfully. The full-service agency should be able to offer a minimum of three marketing solutions in-house.

18. Independent Agency of the Year

This category is open to any independent agency with any specialism. An agency can be deemed independent when it is not part of an agency network and is not owned by an agency holding company, a conglomerate or any other big agency or parent company. Judges will be looking at the unique strengths and innovative approaches that showcased their success. Entries should demonstrate successful client partnerships and significant achievements.

19. Industry Specialist Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that specialise in specific business verticals or particular industries, including healthcare, sports, talent management, finance, lifestyle/entertainment, tourism, and more. Judges will be looking at how well the agencies understood their sector and how their tailored strategies drove success for their clients. Entries should reflect the agency’s expertise and market insights, highlighting their impact within their niche.

20. Influencer Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that provided their clients with ideas, strategies and the execution of marketing and/or advertising campaigns with social media influencers. Judges will be looking at how effectively agencies leveraged influencer partnerships to drive brand awareness and engagement. Entries should showcase innovative campaigns that successfully connected brands with target audiences and their contributions to influencer marketing.

21. Innovative Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that demonstrated an innovative approach to client needs, for example, the use of new technology, media, marketing, creative, social, communities, and consumer intelligence. Judges will be looking at groundbreaking ideas that set new standards in the industry. Entries should highlight the agency’s ability to think outside the box and drive impactful results.

22. Integrated Marketing Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies which successfully used integrated marketing solutions on three or more marketing channels for their clients. Judges will be looking at how effectively they combined multiple channels and tactics to deliver cohesive solutions. Entries should show the conceptualisation and management of an integrated campaign across a range of verticals.

23. MarTech Agency of the Year

This category celebrates agencies that provided the best marketing technology strategies to develop, deploy and/or refine an integrated MarTech stack for their clients. Judges will be looking at how effectively agencies leveraged technology to enhance marketing effectiveness. Entries should showcase the innovative approaches that drove results through technology integration.

24. Media Agency of the Year

This category recognises outstanding agencies in the areas of media planning, buying, and strategy. Judges will be looking at how effectively they optimised media strategies to maximise reach and engagement, including the new areas of programmatic and real-time bidding. Entries should demonstrate effective media solutions that delivered measurable results for clients.

25. OOH Agency of the Year (NEW)

This category recognises agencies that specialise in out-of-home advertising. Judges will be looking at how effectively they created impactful OOH campaigns that reached and engaged target audiences. Entries should showcase successful strategies that drove brand visibility.

26. Performance Marketing Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that excel in performance-based marketing strategies. Judges will be looking at how effectively they delivered and optimised their performance for achieving the client-desired business results. Entries should highlight the successful campaigns that demonstrated the agency’s impact on client performance.

27. Production Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that provided excellent pre or post-production work for marketing campaigns which includes event, audio, video productions, and more. Judges will be looking at the effectiveness of their visual and audio content in communicating brand messages. Entries should showcase the agency’s production expertise and creativity.

28. Programmatic Agency of the Year

This category celebrates agencies that made the most effective use of omni-channel buying capabilities. Judges will be looking at how effectively agencies leveraged data and technology to optimise digital advertising campaigns. Entries should showcase innovative programmatic strategies that drove engagement and results.

29. Public Relations Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that provided strategy and execution for clients in the areas of corporate communications, public affairs, B2B, investor relations or crisis management. Judges will be looking at how effectively they managed brand reputation and drove positive media coverage. Entries should illustrate the successful PR campaigns that enhanced client visibility and their impact on brand perception.

30. Social Media Agency of the Year

This category recognises agencies that offered social media solutions as part of their core offering to marketers. Judges will be looking at how effectively they created engaging campaigns that built brand communities. Entries should illustrate the agency’s ability to connect with audiences across social platforms.

Talent & Culture Categories

31. Best Agency Culture

This category recognises the outstanding efforts of an agency in fostering a positive and inclusive work environment for its people. Judges will be looking at how their culture drove employee satisfaction, engagement, and wellbeing, resulting in a culture that was supportive, collaborative, and promoted employee development. Entries should showcase initiatives that promoted a supportive and engaging environment.

32. Best Client-Agency Partnership

This category recognises the outstanding collaboration and co-operation between an agency and its client that led to exceptional results and success. Entries should select one client and demonstrate the mutual trust, communication, and dedication that have been key factors in achieving a mutually beneficial partnership. Winners of this category will have demonstrated a strong alignment of goals, a seamless execution of initiatives, and a deep understanding of the client’s business and industry.

33. Agency Leader of the Year

This category recognises outstanding stewardship and excellence from a leader who has demonstrated exceptional vision, leadership, and guidance while making a significant impact on their agency’s overall output. Judges will be looking at their contributions to their agency’s success and the industry as a whole.  

Entrants can nominate themselves or be nominated by others; this category is limited to CEO/MD-level positions and should show evidence of business impact in the following areas within the eligibility period: their achievements, operational excellence, professional leadership skills, commercial results, their contribution to the agency, etc. Testimonials for this category are encouraged.

34. Agency Team of the Year

This category recognises the excellent performance of an agency team which has made a significant impact on its clients’ overall marketing campaigns, executions, and results. Entries can use one particular campaign as a case study of evidence to form their entry or can use aspects from various projects. All work must have taken place within the eligibility period.

 Judges will be looking at the team’s scope of work, strategic thinking, creativity, and excellence in execution. Entrants should also showcase their exceptional achievements, and successful results against objectives/KPIs. Testimonials for this category are encouraged.

35. Rising Star (age below 30)

This category recognises an outstanding performance from an agency talent under the age of 30, who has demonstrated their ability in generating a significant impact to their clients’ overall marketing campaigns, executions, and results. To qualify, the entrant must have been 29 at any point during the eligibility period. 

Entrants can use one particular campaign as a case study of evidence to form their entry or can use aspects from various projects, but all work must have taken place within the eligibility period.

They must show evidence of their outstanding achievements in the campaigns, their creativity, their out-of-the box thinking, excellent executions, successful results against objectives, and any other exceptional achievements or works, etc. Testimonials for this category are encouraged.

Overall Categories (Not for Entry)

36. Overall Agency of the Year

This category will recognise the most successful performing agencies across all categories. The top five performing agencies will be shortlisted, and the winner will be revealed in the big finale at the AOTY gala dinner celebration.

The overall winner is decided based on the following weightage. The entrant who scores the highest points will be crowned the overall winners:

Gold – 4 points

Silver – 2 points

Bronze – 1 point

 

Tie-Breakers:
Most Gold: If total points are tied, the agency with the highest number of Gold awards wins.
Most Silver: If Gold awards are also tied, the agency with the highest number of Silver awards wins.
Highest Average Score: If a tie still persists, the agency with the highest average score percentage (as assigned by the judges across all their winning entries) will win.

37. Overall Local Hero of the Year

This category will recognise the most successful performing Local Hero agency across all categories. Only independent agencies that were founded in Hong Kong are eligible for consideration. Multiple offices in other countries is permitted as long as the agency was founded in Hong Kong, with no ownership by parent agencies or holding companies.

The overall winner is decided based on the following weightage. The entrant who scores the highest points will be crowned the overall winners:

Gold – 4 points

Silver – 2 points

Bronze – 1 point
