Irene Chan’s journey at The Hong Kong Jockey Club began in 2015 when she was appointed Head of Charities (Communications and Engagement). She subsequently spearheaded the development of an integrated communications and engagement strategy for the Club\u2019s charities projects. In 2019, she was appointed Head of Public Affairs (Corporate & Charities Communications), since when she has played a key role in showcasing the Club\u2019s unique integrated business model and strengthening its position as a world-class racing, sports and charity organisation.<\/p>\n

With a wealth of experience in management, business development, marketing, branding, public affairs, PR and corporate communications, Irene is a well-rounded professional. She has held senior positions in the Beijing Olympics Broadcasting Company (Beijing), The Walt Disney Company (Burbank, USA and Hong Kong) and Shell Oil (Singapore and Hong Kong). Before joining The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Irene served as Chief Executive Officer of UNICEF Hong Kong. During her tenure at Walt Disney, Irene was a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for communications strategy in the Asia-Pacific region and the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in September 2005.<\/p>\n

Irene\u2019s academic journey is a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning. She earned her first degree from the University of Essex, followed by an MBA from the City University Business School in London and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. To keep abreast of the latest developments in her field she also completed a part-time research course in Communications at Peking University. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in the United Kingdom, underscoring her commitment to development and professional growth.<\/p>\n
